  • About

    Dr. Scully, a founding physician of The Heart Center of NGMC, has been a fundamental contributor to the advancement and growth of cardiology care in the Northeast Georgia region. He is a graduate of the University of Notre Dame and obtained his medical degree in 1983 at Georgetown University School of Medicine, Washington, D.C. He completed his internship and residency in Internal Medicine at USAF Medical Center Keesler, Keesler AFB, Mississippi. Dr. Scully completed his fellowship in Cardiology at Wilford Hall USAF Medical Center, Lackland AFB, Texas. He is board certified in Internal Medicine and Cardiovascular Disease. 

    Since arriving in Gainesville in 1991, he has served as medical director for cardiac rehab, CCU, and nuclear cardiology at NGMC and, with strong teamwork from other Gainesville cardiologists and NGMC administration, was instrumental in bringing premium services in open heart surgery and interventional catheterization services to the region. He currently practices noninvasive cardiology and cardiac imaging. 

    Dr. Scully has served as the first president of NGHC (2000-2004), and is currently a Board of Trustees member. He has been elected to medical staff leadership at NGMC 2006-2012, serving as Secretary-Treasurer and Vice Chief of Staff 2006-2010. This will culminate in the role of Chief of Staff 2011-2012. He and his wife, Mary, have raised 5 children (Mary Beth, Robert, Michael, Tim, Jr. and Brian) who have all attended Lakeview Academy and the University of Notre Dame.
